Botox, Xeomin & Fillers: Which Injectable Is Right for You?

By Sakara Team

Injectables are one of the most popular paths to facial rejuvenation — but the options can be confusing. Botox, Xeomin, and dermal fillers each do something different, and understanding the distinction is the key to natural-looking results. At Sakara Beauty & Med Spa, every injectable treatment is performed by experienced medical professionals who prioritize safety, comfort, and a refreshed look that still looks like you.

Two Different Tools for Two Different Jobs

The first thing to understand is that there are two broad categories of injectables, and they address opposite problems.

Neuromodulators — like Botox and Xeomin — relax the muscles that create expression lines. They’re the answer for dynamic wrinkles: the forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet that deepen when you move your face.

Dermal fillers — like Juvederm — restore volume. As we age, we lose fullness in the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth. Fillers replace that lost volume and smooth deeper folds, contouring areas that have hollowed over time.

In short: neuromodulators soften movement, fillers restore structure.

Botox vs. Xeomin: What’s the Difference?

Both Botox and Xeomin are neuromodulators that temporarily relax facial muscles to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and both deliver comparable results. The difference is in the formulation.

Xeomin is a pure-form neuromodulator with no additives — sometimes called a “naked” formulation. For clients who prefer the cleanest possible product, Xeomin is an excellent choice. Botox remains the most well-known and widely used option. Results from either typically appear within three to seven days and last three to four months.

Understanding Dermal Fillers

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler, meaning it’s based on a substance your body already produces to keep skin hydrated and plump. Because of that, results look and feel natural.

Fillers are remarkably versatile. A smaller amount can subtly address fine lines around the mouth or hollows under the eyes, while a fuller treatment can enhance the lips, augment the cheeks, contour the jawline, or smooth deeper facial folds. Results are immediate, and depending on the area and product, they can last anywhere from six to eighteen months.

Can You Combine Them?

Absolutely — and many clients do. Combining neuromodulators with dermal fillers offers comprehensive rejuvenation: you soften the lines caused by movement while restoring the volume lost to time. The result is a balanced, refreshed appearance rather than a single isolated change. Your practitioner will create a personalized plan that maps the right products to the right areas for your face.

Does It Hurt?

Most clients experience only minimal discomfort. The needles used are ultra-fine, and a topical numbing agent can be applied beforehand for added comfort. The procedure itself is quick — typically just 15 to 30 minutes — which is why injectables are often called a “lunchtime” treatment.

The Sakara Approach

The difference between a good injectable result and a great one is the hand behind the needle. Our focus is always on natural-looking enhancement performed safely by qualified medical professionals. If you’re curious which injectable is right for you, book a consultation at Sakara Beauty & Med Spa, and we’ll design a plan around your features and your goals.
